Lovers of fine dining and golf are in for a treat at Murrayshall this summer and autumn when Scotland’s leading country house and golf hotel hosts a series of gourmet wine evenings. Head chef Craig Jackson will prepare mouthwatering menus featuring fine Scottish cuisine accompanied by a wonderful range of specially selected old and new world wines.
The first gourmet evening of the summer on Friday, 24 June will see guests enjoying a seven course dinner featuring delicacies such as Asparagus and Crab Salad, Home-cured Sea Trout, Pea and Broad Bean Veloute, Smoked Ham and Cheese Tortellini, Highland Venison Loin, Celeriac Remoulade, Chanterelles, Bramble Jus and a tasting of Strawberry Selections for dessert.
Wines from Hunter’s Winery, Malborough, New Zealand, including Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Hukapapa Riesling Icewine will be presented at the dinner by Malcolm Ogilvy from Wine Importers Edinburgh.
There will be further gourmet evenings at Murrayshall on Friday, 30 September, featuring the wines of Guerrieri Rizzardi, Italy, and on Friday, 25 November, featuring the wines of Yalumba and Pewsey Vale, Australia.
The evenings can be rounded off with a stay at Scotland´s leading independent country house hotel overlooking the Vale of Strathmore, near Perth and then a round of golf on the renowned Murrayshall course. Transport home at the end of the evening is included* in the price of the dinner for non-staying guests.
Head Chef Jackson said, “These evenings give us a wonderful opportunity to showcase delicious local and regional Scottish produce and present these fantastic ingredients in traditional dishes with a modern twist. Our guests really enjoy sampling the different wines which provide a perfect accompaniment to the dishes. For anyone who loves trying new food and experiencing familiar dishes with a difference, the gourmet evenings at Murrayshall are a must.”
Through the special Golf Gourmet package guests can work up an appetite prior to the Gourmet Evening or walk off the delicious fare the following day by playing a round of golf on the Murrayshall course, which recently won the ‘The best value for money under £50’ award at the Scottish Golf Tourism awards and is ranked in Golf World’s top 100 courses in Scotland.
The Gourmet Golf package with bed and breakfast and a round of golf on the Murrayshall is £149 per person based on two people sharing a room. A Hunter’s Stableford Competition will be held on the day with some of the excellent Hunter’s wines on offer as prizes.
The Gourmet Evening on 24 June starts at 7:30pm and can be booked separately at a cost of £65 per person, including* transport home at the end of the evening.
